Excellent Andy. I'm from an older generation and, as I've noted previously, this is not a MoN team - this is a SM team from training ground to tactics to team selection. MoN presence offers a layer of protection for the Board. A 352 would not only aspire to get the best from our two strikers but, at this point where we are seriously light weight in midfield, it may offer some energy and protection for the back line: in short make the best of what we've got. For the younger folk not familiar with a MoN team, a visit to the GRCH last evening would have given you a taste of his (and with equal gratitude Robertson and Walford) team traits: quality, presence, character and togetherness - as Jackie said you looked around the dressing room before a game and you had no fear.
Great article Andy. It’s clear we don’t buy players with any thought for how to utilise them, we buy because we saw them score and think they’d do a job, without taking into consideration the system their present team played, although the idea that we even have a system of play these days is fanciful.
We’re so stuck in the past with our board, our recruitment system and our management team and appear to think we’ll win because some of our players are better than theirs, doesn’t happen when a team is well organised and willing to challenge us across the pitch as we’ve seen on the only two difficult away fixtures we’ve played this season. We’re also weak, clueless and slow. Unless things change drastically I fear we’ll see a number of days like last Sunday.
A well written piece Andy. My fear from "before" the Kilmarnock game was this developing myth that our 11m penalty box striker would be shoe horned into a target man role. Living and working in Bangkok, so getting up at 2am for midweek games, I was genuinely losing the plot watching the LASK debacle. I felt in a similar mood on sunday.
The nunber of long balls to Hogh is a disgrace, and we now have what seems like a collection of signings, and no coherent plan that makes the most of them. This would include Duran, Hogh, Sorensen and the young lad signed from PSV.
Someone should copy and paste this to Dermot Desmond and the Celtic Board of Directors.
We have assembled an expensive trio of strikers/wingers in Hogh, Hassan and Duran, and crazily O'Neil and Maloney are hammering them like square pegs into round holes.

Spot on. O’Neill’s team is a mess. I don’t know which is worse, the tactics or the recruitment.
Nail on head Andy.
