Credit where it's due, to unearth a gem like Duran, fork out another record fee for Hogh, agree a deal with Hassan because they scouted him long before the world cup and again find Baur, our recruitment team deserve enormous credit if there is one.
Let's not forget those incomings were afforded by the sales of Maeda, Engels, Palma and Nawrocki, so it shows the board that this kind of dealing can be done if you have the correct mindset. ATM we are STILL in profit whilst bringing in half a new team, come January bring in one or two to cover injuries etc then next summer we'll probably sell Nygren and/or Johnston which will buy us another half a team, thats a plan!
I'm pretty sure you'd struggle to find a Celtic fan who has not been impressed by our transfer activity so far, unlike other seasons we've actually placed quality over quantity which is a gigantic step forward.
IMO we want a GK (though Sinisalo showed last night how good a new GK will have to be), a LB to cover Tierney, a pacey CH which wouldn't leave us open to counter attacks as v LASK and a strong CM to help McGregor.
If we can bring in Sigur that'll cover Johnston at RB, Gineitis could be the CM whilst Jota's return will solve the LW. So IMO three more players for our defence and a CM would be great business.
It's hilarious seeing the huns bringing in somewhere between 14 and 20 new players, obviously they dont have the cash for a quality over quantity plan. We've been there under Rodgers when we were bringiing in "club signings", it'll end in McInnes tears, that'll be a shame.....NOT!!!😭😭😭😁😁😁
I couldn’t agree more with Strachan’s comments on last season’s injuries. The 3 big names he mentioned - Jota, CCV and Johnston - were bad enough, but Celtic also lost 2 strikers at the same time as CCV and AJ got crocked. It would have been a more relaxing campaign if even half of those players had been available. That said, 4 out of 5 of those injuries were due to strain, not contact or misadventure. Rodgers has had a reputation for over-stressing his players. It all turned to ordure around the time of the Sturm Graz match, but it had been going downhill fast before then, and I can’t help but wonder if the players were losing confidence in the coaching.
