James is an example to all our academy players on how to achieve things at Celtic, not only is he a good footballer he's a grafter and has shown his worth to every manager he's worked under. He's so humble as well there's no Champagne Charlie vibe off of him, he goes into his work every day and puts a shift in and that's why he's the club's most decorated player. He leads by example and he doesn't need to big himself up, not that he would anyway, he's shown that if you put the work in you'll more often than not you'll get your rewards. He's a game changer as well like he showed on Sunday as going into extra-time the momentum was all with St Mirren, and I defy any of our support to say they saw us winning the way the game had panned out, but Jamesy done something that we hadn't for ninety minutes he went direct, he took his man on and put in a brilliant cross and Iheanacho placed his header by their young keeper and then you know the rest. I'd be lying if I said that Jamesy hasn't frustrated me at times over the years but I've never been one to pile on him and say he should leave because I knew he could unlock defences, he could win games on his own and that's why I admire him because he's done it consistently over the years and he's still got it in his locker even as he enters his 35th year on the planet and all of that when he's overcome some serious injuries as well. There's an old adage that I think sums Jamesy up "Forms temporary, class is permanent" and he's got that class on and off the park and may God bless him for the rest of his career and what comes after, he's a gentleman in every sense of the word but most of all he's a born winner.
Quite astonishing this fantastic Celtic career James Forrest has amassed over 26 fantastic seasons, scoring a tremendous 110 goals and 112 assists, and 564 appearances in the process, at the top level of club football ever since he joined the club a the tender age of nine. Will this kind of stunning record ever be achieved again in modern football ?, I doubt it very much indeed, and this is a fitting tribute Andy, to what can only be described as the extraordinary and illustrious Celtic career of James Forrest, a Celtic Legend in his own time.
Very few footballers across the globe have such a career, particularly at one club. There have been ups and downs along the way, but no one can question his professionalism, here's hoping he scores next season to top off his wonderful record breaking career.
A true Celtic legend is our James Forrest, a testament to what hard work, diligence and footballing loyalty can achieve through dedication to the cause. This is a wonderful tribute Andy, to a Celtic player who has made his mark at Parkhead, and shown astonishing adaptabilty and flexibility over all these years, and a variety of Celtic managers, and still be able to make a notable contribution to the club.
When the sun finally goes down on Jamsie's distinguished footballing career, he will be remembered fondly by all Celtic fans and connoisseurs of football everywhere.
